Olivier Houdé

Ph.D, HDR

Full professor

Paris Cité University and IUF

Olivier Houdé, Honorary Director of the laboratory, has been a professor of experimental psychology at the Université Paris Cité since 1995 and was Director of the LaPsyDÉ (CNRS) at La Sorbonne from 1998 to 2018, when he became Administrator of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) at the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche (MESR). He was previously a junior and senior member of the IUF. A pioneer in France and worldwide in pediatric brain imaging, Olivier Houdé became a member of the Académie des technologies in 2017, a member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques at the Institut de France in 2018 (received under the Coupole in 2021), like his illustrious predecessor Théodule Ribot, and a member of the Académie royale des sciences, lettres et beaux-arts de Belgique, his native country, in 2019. Author of several hundred publications and scientific communications, including thirty books on the cognitive development of the child, psychology and cognitive neuroscience in general, awarded by the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and the French Academy, Olivier Houdé entered the Larousse Illustrated Dictionary in 2022 and the Robert Illustrated Dictionary in 2023. He is a Knight of the Legion of Honor, Commander of the Order of Academic Palms and Commander of the Order of the Crown (Belgium). In Canada, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to the development of new fields of research bridging education, psychology and neuroscience.
