André Knops est chercheur CNRS (CR1) en psychologie du développement et de neurosciences cognitives à l’université Paris Descartes depuis 2018. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme en psychologie à l’université de Marburg (Allemagne), André a obtenu son doctorat en psychologie à l’université d’Aix la Chapelle en 2006. André a ensuite été postdoctorant dans le laboratoire de Stanislas Dehaene à Neurospin (Saclay) de 2006 à 2009 et dans le laboratoire de David Melcher à l‘université de Trento (Italie) de 2009 à 2010. Entre 2010 et 2012 André a été chercheur associé dans le laboratoire de Klaus Willmes à Aix la Chapelle avant d’obtenir une bourse Emmy Noether qui lui a permis de construire et diriger son propre laboratoire a l’université de Humboldt à Berlin (Allemagne) de 2012 à 2017. André a été professeur en psychologie générale à l’université de Humboldt à Berlin entre 2016 et 2017. Les recherches d’ André ont pour objectif de mieux comprendre les mécanismes cognitifs et neuraux qui permettent aux hommes d’apprendre et utiliser les nombres et les calculs mathématiques. Dans son approche interdisciplinaire, il utilise des méthodes de psychophysiques classiques, ainsi que les méthodes de l’imagerie neurofonctionnelle.
