Giorgio Coricelli

Giorgio est professeur d’économie et de psychologie à l’Université de Californie du Sud et membre de LaPsyDE .
Giorgio a obtenu son doctorat en économie à l'Université de l'Arizona en 2002 (sous la direction de James Cox et Vernon Smith, lauréat du prix Nobel 2002), puis il a suivi une formation de boursier postdoctoral en économie (Max Planck Institute, Allemagne; Université de York, Royaume-Uni) et neurosciences.
Il a occupé des postes de stagiaire postdoctoral, de chercheur invité, de chercheur et de chercheur scientifique dans plusieurs instituts de recherche en Europe et aux États-Unis.
Il a rejoint le CNRS en 2004 en tant que chercheur à l'Institut des Sciences Cognitives dirigé par le Pr. Marc Jeannerod; et il a obtenu l'Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches en Neurosciences (HDR) en 2008 à l'Université Claude Bernard Lyon I.
Il a été directeur du groupe de recherche Neuroéconomie, émotions et décisions au Centre de Neuroscience Cognitive du CNRS à Lyon, chef d'équipe du groupe Neuroscience de la prise de décision économique au LNC, ENS à Paris, et il a été PI d'une bourse ERC-Consolidator («Transfer Learning within and between brains») au CIMeC de l'Université de Trento en Italie.
Les recherches de Giorgio se concentrent sur l'interaction des systèmes cognitifs et émotionnels, y compris le rôle des émotions dans la prise de décision.
Son objectif est d'appliquer les résultats de la théorie de la décision comportementale pour étudier les structures cérébrales qui façonnent les jugements et la prise de décision dans des contextes individuels et sociaux.
Cette recherche implique une approche multidisciplinaire (neuroéconomie) qui puise dans l'économie comportementale et expérimentale, la théorie des jeux, la neuroimagerie (IRMf, MEG), la neuropsychologie (étude des populations de patients) et les neurosciences cognitives.
Ses recherches ont également trouvé des applications dans l’étude du comportement des adolescents et des enfants.
